Alzheimer’s
Disease (AD) is the most common of the dementing disorders, affecting
as many as 4 million Americans. AD is a progressive, degenerative
disease that attacks the brain and results in impaired memory, thinking,
and behavior. As with all dementias, the rate of progression in
AD patients varies from case to case. From the onset of symptoms,
the life span of a patient can range from 3 to 20 years, with and
average of 8. The disease eventually leaves its victims unable to
care for themselves. Many families are left struggling with how
to cope with and care for their loved ones. That's why it is so
important for you to become involved with a group of people who
care and will be there for you.
